  • APSF: Perioperative Deterioration: Early Recognition, Rapid Intervention, and the End of Failure to Rescue

    Patients experience multiple handoffs during the various phases of anesthesia care from preadmission through post discharge that may increase risk of patient deterioration. Patient risk could be identified sooner through a pervasive culture of clear and transparent communication that includes patient engagement, optimal monitoring for specific patient acuity and complexity, and continued assessment of outcome metrics to identify successes for celebration and opportunities to improve or create new processes.
