ACOG Council Launches Practicing for Patients Program
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Health Care has launched the Practicing for Patients Obstetric In-Situ Drill Program to aid labor and delivery teams in case of emergency. The Program was designed to help effectively conduct team-based training for simulated obstetric emergencies on their actual units. To ensure access to tools and resources that aid in running a successful drills program, the Program contains an Obstetric In-Situ Drill Program Manual and multiple supporting Clinical Simulation Scenario Packages.
The AANA is a proud member of the ACOG convened Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Health Care, an effort to continually improve patient safety in women’s health care through multidisciplinary collaboration that drives culture change. Beth Ann Clayton, DNP, CRNA, FAAN represents the AANA on the Council. Along with the updated Practicing for Patients Obstetric In-Situ Drill Program, the Council provides Patient Safety Bundles and other Patient Safety Tools to help reduce variation and improve outcomes for women and families. The goal of these efforts is to provide safe healthcare for every woman.
